Ilse Varga has photographed musicians, chefs and a prime minister for magazines in eleven countries. She shoots on one camera body and two lenses, and carries her own grey backdrop everywhere.
Her book Close Enough (2024) collects 120 portraits taken at arm's length. She teaches a lighting course every winter in Budapest, capped at eight people.
